My Story
I started my professional career teaching in Worcester, however a friend's venture into tax work intrigued me, I took some classes and started working part-time with him in a small, local tax office. The work was fulfilling and when my husband and I started our family and I retired from teaching, I continued to work part-time.
This led me to pursue my second graduate degree, an MBA with an emphasis in Taxation at Bryant University. I expanded my skills in all areas of taxation after earning my MBA and went on to pass the IRS Enrolled Agent Exam. This allowed me to be a Tax Professional not only qualified to do personal and business returns, but to consult and represent clients with tax problems before the IRS and State Departments of Revenue.
I took a position of Staff Accountant with Rauker, Scheinfeldt & Co and worked with many businesses as well as individual clients in a variety of capacities, eventually earning the title of Tax Manager of the firm. I loved my job at RSC, working with 2 tremendously talented owners & a small staff of dedicated Enrolled Agents, Accountants and Bookkeepers.
When RSC merged with a Worcester CPA firm, I decided to take the opportunity to venture into my own tax business, Mary Ellen Hall, EA. I specialize in income tax preparation for individuals & small businesses, tax representation, and business & individual tax consulting. This affords the opportunity for me to provide one-on-one attention to clients while drawing upon my vast experience buttressed by my network of tax, legal and accounting professionals.
